Sopore, Dec 29 (KNO): Amidst the snowfall, Sultan Memorial Football Championship organized by Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore Police concluded at Khushal Stadium, Sopore on Thursday wherein S L Academy FC emerged as the winners and lifted the title trophy while Wular FC as runner up of the tournament. The tournament was named after a policeman Mohammed Sultan of Sopore, who was killed alongside his two colleagues in Bandipora by militants in December 2021. Speaking on the occasion, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sopore Shabir Nawab as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the policeman sacrificed his life while protecting the interests of people and the nation. “Sopore has earlier witnessed tough times with disturbing situations, but every individual particularly youth played a role in one way or other in realizing a peaceful and prosperous town and the outcome is in front of us,” he said. Appealing to the misguided youth to shun the path of violence and contribute to nation building, the SSP said that the anti-national and anti-social activities lead to nowhere but destruction. Seeking public cooperation, Nawab said that they will act tough against drug peddlers and dealers as police are on a task to eliminate drug addiction. Meanwhile, CO CRPF 179 BN, Rabish Kumar Singh was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony accompanied by the CO 177BN and the guest of honor was SSP Sopore, while other police officials of the PD Sopore were present on the occasion—(KNO)
